Tupac Shakur: The Top 5 Prolific Songs

Updated: Dec 24, 2020

These are the most prolific songs Tupac made. If you ask someone to name a Tupac song, even if they are not super familiar with him, it will likely end up on this list.

California Love - This song is definitely worthy of the number one spot. Written by both him and Dr. Dre, it talks all about their lives and love for California. It is absolutely the most well known song on my list.

Changes - This is one of his most socially conscious songs. It talks about racism and how oppressed the projects and ghettos are in the US. It has a bunch of highly quoted lyrics such as “there is war in the streets and war in the Middle East.”

Dear Mama - This song is a love letter to his mother who was his rock and best friend. He thanks her for everything she did for him while he was growing up and all the lessons she taught him. You can see how much he really loves his mother just by reading his lyrics. He said he wrote this song in one morning and when he completed it, he called his mother to rap it too her. She cried and he knew it would be a hit!

Hail Mary - This is another one of his most popular and widely known. A song that can be interpreted as a prayer while he speaks of the music game being corrupt and his time in prison.

To Live and Die in LA - This is Tupac’s solo anthem to living in LA. It was his second single off The Don Killuminati: The Seven Day Theory and was released posthumously. He recorded the original version, the clean version and the music video all in one day showing how strong his work ethic was. He was a beast in laying down tracks in record speed and that’s why we have so many new releases 25 years after his death.

What do you think? Do my top 5 prolific Tupac songs match up with yours?
