I am a concert fanatic and between having a liver transplant that makes it risky for me to be in large crowds and stupid COVID taking all the joy out of our world, I’ve been on a concert hiatus.
Hear is my Top 5 List of concerts I‘ve seen:
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
Tom Petty was such an amazing singer-songwriter-performer that made his shows out of this world! I first saw him in high school. It was only the 2nd concert I’d been to unchaperoned by my parents. I went with my boyfriend, one of my best friends, Trisha, and her boyfriend. We had floor seats and that was the icing on top of the cake! He played every song I wanted to hear plus some. Definitely a memorable experience that I will never forget.
Outkast With Ludacris
One day I was browsing the Ticketmaster website checking for some cool concerts to attend. While I was scrolling thru, Ticketmaster added the Outkast concert. Tickets were not available yet so on the day they became available, I rushed over to our local Kroger to stand inline for tickets. I got there really early and by shear luck I was third in line. I got 4 tickets with killer seats. When the 4 of us arrived at the arena, we kept trying to guess who the opening act would be because the ticket didn’t say. Then slowly but surely I started noticing people wearing Ludacris shirts. At first I didn’t think much of it until I saw a huge group of people with his shirt on. I ran to the merch table and low and behold, Luda WAS THE OPENER! Both Luda and Outkast put on an extraordinary show. Between the set lists from both acts, to Luda’s breakout album song, to OutKast’s amazing talent and kick ass clothes it was a night that went down in infamy!
Jane’s Addiction
For those who don’t know me, I am a HUGE Perry Farrell fan. Weather he is solo, with Porno For Pyros, or with Jane’s Addiction, this beautiful man know how to put on a spectacular show. My husband surprised me with tickets in February just after he proposed to me in January. I was already extremely elated about being engaged but the Jane’s tickets put me over the edge with exhilaration and anticipation. The show was at a small to midsize indoor venue so we made sure to get there early to claim our spot on the standing room only floor. We were only a few yards back from the stage and when Perry came out I seriously considered rushing the stage and getting up there with him. That show was the best concert I’d seen in sometime and seeing any of Perry Farrell’s bands was on the too of my bucket list! Wow! What a night to remember!
Tool
I’ve been a big fan of all of Maynard James Keenan‘s bands for a long time. The music is great, hes a spectacular showman, and the stage props and stage shows are alway totally bizarre (in an extraordinary way) and trippy. We weren’t able to get floor seats but we weren’t in the noseblreds either. This concert was on the “Lateralus” tour but they played many songs off their previous albums. One word: phenomenal!
The Beastie Boys with A Tribe Called Quest
My best friend and I drove from Columbus to Cleveland to see this epic show. We had the worst nosebleed seats but we had the time of our lives. It was one of those concerts where they play every single song you hoped they do. This can never be relived since MCA from the Beatie Boys and Phife Dog from Tribe are both looking down on us from heaven. 😭
RIP MCA 🌈😭♥️🎶😇🌈
