My Favorite Rappers of All Time

Updated: Dec 24, 2020

This post pertains to my favorite 5 rappers of all time. I’m not going to list them in any particular order. So, let’s go!

Tupac - He is the top rapper on my list. I love him because his songs seem to outlast the hands of time. The lyrics are so honest, prophetic, and they are poetry. So many of his songs talked about social problems during the early to mid 90s but they also pertain to the social economics of today. Police brutality, black on black crime, civil rights, homelessness, teen pregnancy, and gender discrimination are all topics that he raps about and you can apply that to what’s going on today. He was 25 when his life was taken while he was in Las Vegas for a Mike Tyson boxing match. He was gunned down while he was riding in his managers car by a drive by shooter. His murder case is still open in. He was only 25 when he was killed.

Eminem - He is able to pull off funny and socially conscious raps. I think he is amazing with his lyrics and his overall flow. Listening to his speed puts me in awe. I think he is the best rapper of the 21st century.

Kendrick Lamar - He is one of the newest rappers on my list. He is socially conscious as well as being technically talented. I love the beats he raps over and he is quite creative with his words.

The Notorious Big - Biggie is on my list because of his flow and because he can freestyle like no other. Maybe he’s not as socially conscious as others on my list but that takes nothing away from his delivery. He was also a victim of a drive by shooting in LA that ultimately took his life. He was leaving a party at a car museum when the shooter drove up and killed him. Many think his death and Tupac’s death are related mostly due to the rap “East Coast/West Coast“ war that truly was a beef between Biggie and Tupac that blew up to a coastal war. His murder case is still open as well. He died at age 24; only 6 months after Tupac.

Lil Wayne - So compared to the other rappers on my list, he is the least socially conscious but he is the most fun and creative. If you want to kick back and chill with some fun and sometimes silly raps, he’s the one to go to. His voice is what singles him out. But he is capable of doing socially conscious rap such as Man in the Mirror. I mostly enjoy him for his upbeat songs and to find songs he is featured on. His mixtapes are awesome!

That concludes my top 5 list and I guess I did put them in a ranking order after all. Now that I‘ve shared my favorites I would love to hear yours!! ♥️
