You know the drill now. I will post my top 5 picks of songs from the early 2000 and then post my 5 honorable mentions at the end. Enjoy!!
1) Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind
This song is, for better lack of words, a love song about New York. Jay-Z collaborated with the outstanding Alicia Keys for an epic song that played often and well loved to this day.
2) R. Kelly - Ignition (Remix)
Ok, I really don’t like R. Kelly or have any respect for him, but for some unknown reason, I love this song. I don‘t have much else to say about this crazy dude except to get some mental health attention!
3) Rihanna ft. Jay-Z - Umbrella
This is probably my most liked Rihanna song and it doesn’t hurt that Jay-Z is on the song with her. The beat is good, the music is catchy, and although the lyrics are rather simple, it still deserves a spot on my list. My umbrella, ella, ella, ella, hey, hey, hey!
4) Britney Spears - Toxic
This by far my most favorite Britney Spears song. She is quite the show girl, her dance skills are impeccable, and this song has an awesome beat. What more could you ask for? I guess I can hope she didn’t/doesn’t lip sync her songs at her concerts. I would never pay the extravagant ticket prices to see her even if she is actually singing at her shows. I’ll settle for watching her in music videos and on special events. I will be completely satisfied.
5) - The Plain White Ts - 1, 2, 3, 4
This song is such an engaging little love song with a nice beat and catchy melody. Tom Higgenson’s voice is beautiful and the simple lyrics and melody is just what this song calls for. Simplicity at its best.
