I have been obsessed with all of Perry Farrell since I was in HS (I graduated in 1996). I never got to go to Lallapolooza so I never saw him there. They had been on my bucket list of bands to see for quite some time.
I was insanely jealous that my sister saw him spin when she was in Vegas although she didn’t know it was him until later. She said he wasn’t a very good DJ, but I’d like to make my own opinion on that.
My husband saw Porno For Pyros at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus and says they were awesome. I wasn’t allowed to go to concerts until I was a junior in high school so I missed out on a lot of killer shows.
So a month after my husband proposed to me, he got me the best Valentine’s Day gift I ever received. Jane’s Addiction was coming to Columbus to the LC Pavilion for an indoor show. I was elated to say the least.
It seemed like forever and a day to get to get to the end of February for the show but I made it through ok!
I could hardly contain my excitement the day of the show. The day dragged on until 5:30 when we left. When we got there we went directly to the floor and pushed our way as close to the front as we could get.
When the band came on, I must have felt like the fans of the Beatles in the 60s. I was so emotional that I cried a little bit.
The play list was great. He played some of his new stuff but mostly his old stuff. I was hoping he’d play “Three day,” “Classic Girl,” and “Ocean Size” which he did. Of course he did “Stop” and “Jane Say” which were great live.
Aside from being great musicians, playing the songs I was dying to hear, the entire band, but especially Perry was quite the showman! He’s much more clean cut and much more sober these days, so I didn’t get to see him in a dress with crazy hair, but I’m just glad I got to see them finally.
A friend of mines gave me an awesome Jane’s Addiction movie called “The Gift.” I have it on DVD but you can find it on YouTube. I highly suggest watching it if you are a fan.
Seeing Jane’s Addiction live is by far my #1 best concert I’ve ever seen. It would take a lot to too it... like Kurt Cobain rising from the grave so I could see Nirvana live. But that’s pretty unlikely to happen!
